One of our stopovers once we left derry was "Grianan Ailligh", a large stone-walled fort, 2000 years or so old, sitting on a hilltop. Didn't look like much outside:
But looked pretty cool on the inside:
A snap of castle ruins as we drove past:
and we finally arrived at the Giant's causeway! It was definitely a highlight of the tour:
The Giant's cause was is apparently the result of a volcanic eruption and the hexagon shaped rocks are formed by a lava flow slowly cooling and shrinking in on itself, causing fractures:
